The Natural History Visitor Centre, in Port Charlotte, is open from May to the end of September. The opening hours are as follows: Mon 10.30am-1pm; Tue, Wed, Thurs 10.30am – 4.30 pm; Fri 10.30 am- 1pm.
Tickets are valid for a whole week. On Monday and Friday afternoons we have a nature ramble at various locations around the island. Visit our website or contact us for more details. Outdoor activity sessions for families are held weekly in July and August.
The Centre contains exhibits and information relating to the island’s geology, flora and fauna and has an extensive reference library. A computer database of natural history records is available for browsing.
The laboratory houses marine and freshwater tanks as well as numerous hands-on activities for all the family. Monthly film or slideshows are held throughout the year given by local and visiting naturalists.
